Just like in every aspect of the Peranakan life, the art of cooking is an articulation of the multifaceted cultural diversity. While mainly Hokkien, many local ingredients such as daun pandan (pandan leaf), ketumbar (corrainder), asam (tamarind) and belachan (shrimp paste) is instituted into the recipes of the Peranakan culinary repertoire.
